Dozens of American Jews toured Israeli settlements in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday to protest against the government’s plan to evacuate the occupied Palestinian territory this year.
The group of 40 people, mostly from the states of New York and New Jersey, arrived in Tel Aviv on Sunday before moving on to Gush Katif, the main Israeli settlement bloc in the Gaza Strip.
Their two-day solidarity visit was the brainchild of Dov Hikind, a member of the New York state assembly who has promised to bring “thousands” of American Jews to Gaza in July and August to obstruct the planned evacuation. Read More...
